Book Review: Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy by Helen Fielding
Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy by Helen Fielding
Bridget Jones is back after a decade-plus hiatus! She is widowed and juggling two children, meetings to turn her screenplay into a movie, potential boyfriends, and Twitter. Despite the sad news that Mark Darcy has died, this is a brilliantly funny novel and middle age has never looked so eventful. Helen Fielding is a fantastic author and rises above other writers of similar works with her snappy observations, warm friendships, disastrous romantic encounters, and laugh-out-loud moments. Bridget Jones meets the 21st Century with the same loveable character we already know, but now being older she is more interesting than in her previous books. Mad about the Boy is also full of great tips for modern life, a good one to remember is Rule No 1: No texting while drunk. This is a book with a very big heart.
