Book Review: You're Next by Gregg Hurwitz

You’re Next by Gregg Hurwitz

Gregg Hurwitz is one of the hottest young American thriller writers on the scene today. You’re Next is thriller writing at its best – great characters and a fantastic plot that unfolds to a satisfying and credible ending. Mike Wingate’s life changes forever when he develops a housing development that is environmentally friendly – or so he thinks until he discovers unwanted PVC piping. He is awarded for his achievement anyway and his photograph is plastered over the local newspaper. Overnight he is targeted by people that are determined to kill him and his wife and their eight-year-old child Kate. He can’t understand why he is suddenly in mortal danger – after all he is just an ordinary man, living an ordinary life – but as he goes on the run with little time to figure things out, it seems that it has nothing to do with the housing development fiasco, but instead it has something to do with his dead mother and the father who abandoned him when he was four years of age…

This is an outstanding thriller that expertly blends past and present to a heart-pounding conclusion. I really cared about Mike and his family and you will too. Highly recommended.
