Book Review: Operation Sunshine by Jenny Colgan
Operation Sunshine by Jenny Colgan
The perfect beach read this is a delicious comedy with an ethical kick. Evie has been working long hours in her job as a receptionist for two high-powered plastic surgeons and she is in desperate need of a good holiday. When she is invited to attend a conference in the south of France she can’t quite believe her luck and she looks forward to hobnobbing with the rich and glamorous. However, she doesn’t quite get around to reading the briefing papers so she doesn’t realise there are plans to change the plastic surgery world at this conference – a scheme codenamed ‘Operation Sunshine.’ A whirlwind romance occurs and Evie ends up going undercover to investigate her employers’ dodgy money-making scheme. Evie is a delightful, ditzy character who lurches from one embarrassing moment to the next when she arrives in France. But even when her holiday of a lifetime starts unravelling, she soldiers on, bad sunburn and all, in her attempts to get to the truth. Operation Sunshine is light, frothy and great fun.
