Book Review: A Walk in the Park by Jill Mansell
A Walk in the Park by Jill Mansell
Jill Mansell is a much-loved writer of chick lit, and after reading A Walk in the Park, I can see why she is so popular. The tone is warm and gently humorous, the characters are delightful, and the pace and ending will satisfy.Lara Carson left Bath when she was only sixteen, booted out of her father’s home by her very nasty stepmother. The book opens eighteen years on when she returns to Bath to attend her father’s funeral. Her return causes ripples in the community when she inherits her father’s house and decides to return for good. Her childhood best friend Evie is over the moon that she has returned – especially as she is about to marry the man of her dreams, Joel. Less sure of her return is her old boyfriend Flynn, especially when he discovers the secret she has been hiding from him. Sparks fly between the pair as Lara establishes a new life for herself, but will Lara’s long held secret get in the way of a possible romance? This is a great romantic read with heart.
