Book Review: Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver
Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver
Lauren Oliver wowed the publishing world with the first in this series, Delirium, and the second book, Pandemonium is as addictive as the first. Think of a Margaret Atwood novel that meets Romeo and Juliet and you’ll be on the right track. Pandemonium is a novel for young adults, but as long as you are still young at heart you will enjoy it.
Lena Haloway lives in a society where love is viewed as a disease and young adults are expected to be cured by going through a surgical procedure. But Lena dared to fall in love with Alex and they went on the run with only Lena breaking free. In Pandemonium she is now part of the ‘Invalid’ community – a group of resistance fighters and she infiltrates her old community as a spy. But danger lurks on every corner as Lena resists falling in love for the second time.
This is a breathtaking, captivating read that will transport you to another world. It is tense and very moving, original and romantic, while still being very clever.
